Access network drives

All of the below require a running VPN connection!

Under Windows

(should work now)

Get access to your personal folder:

start->right click on 'my network places' -> 'map network drive' -> choose drive letter and enter path "\\d.ethz.ch\dfs\groups\mavt\cepe\users\%username%" 

For authentication: type d\%username% (e.g. "d\landisf", i.e. do not forget 'd\...') for your username and use your normal password.

Get access to a group folder:

start->right click on 'my network places' -> 'map network drive' -> choose drive letter and enter path "\\d.ethz.ch\dfs\groups\mavt\cepe\Groups\%groupname%" 

For authentication: type d\%username% (e.g. "d\landisf", i.e. do not forget 'd\...') for your username and use your normal password.

The drives can now be accessed via the respective drive letters

Under OSX

In 'Finder' hit "apple-command-key + K" and then enter either of the following addresses:

smb://nas-mavt-cepe.ethz.ch/share/users
smb://nas-mavt-cepe.ethz.ch/share/groups

Under Linux (Ubuntu)

You can mount the network drives using samba (install smbfs first: 'sudo apt-get install smbfs'):
Create folders to mount to:

sudo mkdir /mnt/cepe_private
sudo mkdir /mnt/cepe_groups

Mount drives with the commands:

sudo mount -t cifs //nas-mavt-cepe.ethz.ch/share/users/%eth_username% /mnt/cepe_private -o uid=%local_username%,gid=%local_username%,noperm
sudo mount -t cifs //nas-mavt-cepe.ethz.ch/share/groups /mnt/cepe_groups
-o uid=%local_username%,gid=%local_username%,noperm

NOTE: Ubuntu shuts down network services before unmounting drives. Therefore network drives have to be unmounted before shutting down the system.
